Danaher announced that Matthew Gugino, currently group chief financial officer (CFO) of the company’s Life Sciences Innovations Group and VP of financial planning & analysis, will succeed Matthew McGrew as Danaher’s CFO.

After the transition, McGrew will continue as an executive VP of the company, as he begins a gradual move to retirement. He’s spent over two decades with Danaher.

McGrew has been Danaher’s CFO since January 2019. He joined the company in 2004 as director, M&A finance and worked in positions of growing responsibility including VP of investor relations from 2009 to 2014 and Danaher group CFO from 2012 to 2018.

“Matt McGrew’s financial leadership over the past two decades has been instrumental in shaping the Danaher you see today,” said Rainer Blair, Danaher president and CEO. “He played a pivotal role in the acquisition of Cytiva, the launches of Envista and Veralto as public companies, and navigating through the pandemic—all while developing a deep talent bench. We’re grateful he’ll remain with Danaher to support a seamless transition, and we look forward to building on his legacy.”

Incoming CFO Gugino joined the company in 2013 as director, investor relations and was VP of investor relations from 2014 to 2022. He was VP of financial planning & analysis since 2021.

Before joining Danaher, Gugino was a VP of equity research at Barclays and Morgan Stanley, and an associate at KPMG.

“I’ve had the privilege of working closely with Matt Gugino for more than a decade,” said Blair. “His broad experience across Investor Relations, FP&A, M&A, talent development, and most recently as Group CFO, makes him exceptionally well prepared for this next chapter. Matt has been instrumental in shaping our financial strategy and portfolio evolution, and I know he will be an outstanding CFO as we continue to grow Danaher into one of the world’s most respected science and technology leaders.”

Earlier this week, the company appointed Greg Milosevich as executive VP of its Life Sciences business.
